Adieu Summer of 2013....

Keshav couldn't let the summer of 2013 go without us going on a camping trip. So camping it is - on a RV!
It was about a month back that he booked the campsite (http://www.packwoodrv.com/) and me and Keshav went and selected the RV we wanted to rent. It was a 34' Class "A" Luxury Motor Homes RV. When I first stepped inside the RV, I thought it looked like a studio apartment. The RV expands further to make for more room inside.  Then started the count down to the date (Sept 21st' 2013) when we set off.
The planning started in ardent from Friday. Sandip and Keshav set off on Friday afternoon to bring the RV home. Rishi was so excited to see the RV in the driveway after he got back from school. We then loaded all the stuff we thought we would need. Saturday morning off we went. The weather was mostly gloomy but our moods were not. We were very excited and I think that the fact that the sun started peaking out had nothing to do with it.

Bye Bye Seattle...

Keshav was the designated driver as he was the only one with experience driving a RV

After riding for about an hour, we made a quick stop for some 'driver' requested adjustments to the side mirrors of the RV, some coffee and fun and frolic.

Then off we went riding again ......
I did what I love doing. Slept all the way....but took the trouble of waking up for coffee and cookies :-)
Rishi lounging on the way....

Breakfast in bed ...

And then we reached...

Packwood is located in the heart of the Washington Cascades Volcano Country, is surrounded by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mt. Rainier National Park, several untouched wilderness areas, Mt. Adams and Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.

Look who came to say 'hi'...

The master chefs got busy making tea in the RV kitchen and we enjoyed hot tea and snacks

Soon we went on a walk exploring the little town of Packwood.
Watched 'Madagascar 2' for the 20th time (under estimating here) and then we ran into our first ' (mis)adventure' .... I tried to open the RV door and the hinge of the door came off. I didn't realize the strength training classes I have been taking in the gym would manifest this way. I think some credit should also be given to the 'old' RV. We had to innovatively decide how we would now be able to open the door from inside. As usual Sandip was in panic mode. Keshav to the rescue ..yet again. He found a way to open the door with some magic of his fingers. Ok, now we can sigh and get on with the enjoyment part of camping.
Well, what's camping without the camp fire?

So the fire was lit....

It wouldn't have been complete without Smores'. So, smores' were had...

The second '(mis) adventure struck ..... We realized that we got locked out of the RV when Keshav decided to keep the contents in the RV safe by locking the door shut - the twist being contents indoors included the keys :-D
Now the turn of my beta to save the day. He climbed into the RV through a small open window and fetched the keys. Phew times 2!!

And then the 'posing' began :P

We went into the RV for some indoor fun then. Played Uno for a bit and then we retired for the night.

Woke up, had breakfast and we were on our way back taking in the awesome Mount Rainier view.

The sun came out and we stopped at the MossyRock Dam for some enjoyment.

On our way home then......
So long Summer'2013. See you next year.

Us at 1.44pm, seeing Summer'2013 off :-)
