He did go up to stage as a 3 year old in San Diego,CA for a Bijoya Dashami program. He was one of group of little kids who had a board which had a letter of the alphabet hanging from their neck that spelled out 'Shubho Bijoya' in Bengali.
But on 2nd March,2008, Rishi gave his first performance. He played the songs 'Fur Elise', 'Amazing Grace', 'Bingo' and 'The wheels on the bus' on the piano. This was at a concert arranged by his music school (44 school) in Kirkland Performance center. He was such a treat to watch and played his songs with upmost concentration, confidence and he was perfect.
We met his teacher from school(Mrs. Pond) at the concert. It was sheer joy to hear her sing praises of Rishi. She told us that he is one of the top ones at his class and it seems that they ask him to help the other childern around. I perfectly understood the term 'mother's pride' then and there. Even before he went on to perform on stage, I was alternatively choking up and beaming from ear to ear to hear her sing praises of our son. She said that he was a conscientious and very well mannered boy apart from being very good at his studies. She also told us we are raising a very good young man and that we should be very proud of him. It is one of the proudest moments of my life.
On March 7th,2008, Rishi followed up his first Piano performance with another one at his school concert. He played the songs - 'Amazing Grace', 'Bingo' and 'Wheels on the bus' there. He was the only 1st Grader performing anything in the show this year.
Very good job, Rishi. We are so proud of you and keep up the good work. Love you always!!
